Achievement Scores by Subgroup for English Language Arts and Math

We believe strongly that our emphasis on "active pedagogy" works to help all students master grade level content knowledge and skills, and demonstrate the ability to think critically and apply skills learned in the classroom to new contexts and novel tasks.

We also believe that this approach works exceptionally well for our more vulnerable and/or non-traditional learners. These kids are often the ones who benefit most from engaging and active instructional practices, fieldwork, student-engaged assessment practices and other structures in place at REALMS. The data below seems to bear out this hypothesis.

MEDIAN GROWTH PERCENTILES for English Language Arts and Math - 2014-15

The Median Growth Percentile is the median of all the individual Student Growth Percentiles at the school. The Student Growth Percentile describes a student’s growth compared to his/her academic peers. A student’s “academic peers” are all students in Oregon in the same grade and assessment subject who had similar scores in the previous year. This group is defined solely by their state assessment scores, they are students who have followed a similar assessment score path. A Student Growth Percentile represents how much a student has grown in comparison to these academic peers. The Median Growth Percentile is a way to capture growth of students in a school or District in a given year.
